Soya Food Allergy

Food Allergy | Allergies | Intolerance | Symptoms | TreatmentSoya is a common food allergy as it is widely used in the food processing industry and can now be found in most foods in the form of soya oil (tinned tuna fish, vegetable oils, margarines), soya flour (almost all commercial breads) and texturised vegetable protein (meat substitutes and meat fillers).

Avoiding Soya

Soya sources such as soya milk and soy source, tofu and bean curd, miso and textured vegetable protein (TVP) should all be avoided. Soya can also be listed on food labels as vegetable protein and lecithin, as well as included in bakery products along with wheat - soya may be used and still not listed on the label!

Alteratives to Soya

- Rice flour, corn flour, buckwheat flour

- Goat's milk
